East Coast Swing
A true “American Dance” and a descendant of Lindy Hop and Jitterbug, this dance dates back to the 1920’s where Charleston and Lindy Hop were being danced to Jazz music. It followed the development of “Ragtime” and then “Swing” music. During WWII, the American Forces introduced this dance to Britain. Some time after the war, the faster version stayed in Europe and became known as Jive.
East Coast Swing is known for its versatility and adaptability to different styles of music, making it a popular choice for social dancing and swing dance competitions. It is a high-energy and engaging dance that encourages creativity and improvisation, making it a favorite among dancers of all skill levels.
